The Question
Every person carries stories worth remembering, but most of those stories disappear without someone willing to ask a thoughtful question, listen with genuine curiosity, and help shape it into something others can experience and pass along.
Desired Ability
Communities should be able to discover, preserve, and pass along the stories that matter most to them — not just tell a story, but learn the craft of telling it well, with support from workshops, technology, and each other.
Our Response
The Hidden Story Project's first research and development pilot brings Story Discovery Workshops, TomorrowLabs' multilingual storytelling platform, and cultural partnership together in Ghana, field-testing a community storytelling model — Personal Story Books, a short documentary, and a Community Storytelling Playbook other communities can adapt.
Current Question
Can a model built from Story Discovery Workshops, multilingual technology, and cultural partnership help communities preserve their own stories — and could it be adapted by other communities elsewhere?

Our Ghana Pilot runs October 23 – November 4, 2026, working with Campfire Tales, Friends of Adaklu, Ho Technical University, and PROOF: Media for Social Justice. Participants won't simply tell stories — through Story Discovery Workshops, they'll learn how thoughtful detail, emotion, sensory description, and structure can turn a memory into something a listener can feel, remember, and pass along. Every storyteller decides what story to tell; our role is to provide the tools, guidance, and encouragement to help them tell it well.
